Obiora Eneanya, MSc, PhD

Dr. Obiora Eneanya joined the DOLF Project in October 2019 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

Obi hails from Eastern Nigeria. He obtained a prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship to support work that led to a PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College in London (UK). His dissertation work focused on the impacts of climate and environment on the spatial epidemiology of lymphatic filariasis in Nigeria, which has a high burden of disease. He linked baseline infection prevalence data with remotely sensed climate and socio-demographic characteristics to define ecological characteristics that are suitable for filariasis. He also used these data to build predictive models for infection prevalence using machine learning approaches. Obi also has extensive experience in operational field research, having conducted surveys for lymphatic filariasis and soil-transmitted helminth infections in rural Nigeria and Ethiopia, respectively. He is passionate about conducting research to help control and eventually eliminate neglected tropical diseases.
